Leak Detection in the Inland Empire

A water bill that keeps climbing, a meter that spins with everything off, a damp wall, or the sound of running water at night all mean there is a leak somewhere. Drain Edge Rooter finds hidden leaks in walls, ceilings, yards, and under slabs, then repairs them with as little opening up as possible. We are based at 619 E South St, Rialto, CA 92376 and serve the Inland Empire under California C-36 license #1078977, with about 139 five-star Google reviews.

Signs of a Hidden Leak

  • Higher water bills with no change in how you use water
  • The meter moves when every faucet, toilet, and irrigation zone is off
  • Stains, bubbling paint, or soft drywall on walls and ceilings
  • Musty smells or mildew inside cabinets and closets
  • Warm spots on the floor, which can point to a hot-water line under the slab
  • Wet or sinking patches in the yard along the water service or irrigation lines
  • Low pressure or a water heater that seems to run constantly

How We Find It

We start with the simplest tests: reading the meter with everything off, isolating the house from the irrigation system, and checking toilets, the water heater relief valve, and fixtures for leaks that are easy to miss. If water is still moving, we narrow down where using pressure testing of the hot and cold sides, acoustic listening equipment that picks up the sound of water escaping a pressurized pipe, and moisture and thermal readings on walls and floors.

The goal is to mark the leak closely enough that we open one small, targeted spot instead of tearing out walls or concrete to search. When a leak turns out to be under the foundation, our slab leak detection page covers the repair options in detail.

Repair Options After the Leak Is Found

  • Direct repair of the failed section through a small opening
  • Reroute of a line through the attic or walls when going under the slab or into finished areas makes less sense
  • Partial or whole-home repiping when the pipe is failing in several places
  • Water service repair for leaks between the meter and the house (see water line repair)

We explain the tradeoffs and give you a written price before anything is cut. If the leak is on the utility’s side of the meter, we will tell you so you can call them instead of paying us.

Insurance and Documentation

If you plan to file a homeowner’s claim, we can document what we found with photos and a written description of the leak location and cause. Coverage decisions are up to your insurer, and we do not promise any outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I check for a leak myself?

Turn off every faucet, appliance, and irrigation zone, then look at the water meter. If the dial or leak indicator keeps moving, water is going somewhere. Call us and tell us what you saw.

Do you have to break open walls or floors to find a leak?

We use testing and listening equipment to pinpoint the leak first, so any opening is small and in the right place. Some opening is usually needed to make the repair itself.

Can a running toilet look like a hidden leak?

Yes. A toilet flapper that leaks into the bowl can waste a lot of water quietly, and it is one of the first things we check.
