What makes Ontario different

Ontario is really two cities in one when it comes to plumbing. North of the 60, around Euclid Avenue’s wide median and the older blocks near Holt Boulevard, many homes went up before or shortly after World War II. South of Riverside Drive, Ontario Ranch is still being built out, and those homes have modern plastic and PEX piping.

Older lines in Ontario can hold grease and roots at joints, so a clog in one sink is sometimes a sign of a bigger restriction further down. Ontario’s water is a blend of local groundwater and imported supply, and like most of the Inland Empire it runs hard, so scale build-up on valves, heaters and fixtures is something we see often.

Working in Ontario

Getting to Ontario is easy for us. From Rialto we take the 10 west, and from there Euclid Avenue, Grove Avenue, Vineyard Avenue and Archibald Avenue get us to most of the city quickly. Ontario Ranch, down past Riverside Drive, is a longer drive south, but it is still regular territory for us.

A lot of Ontario’s older homes near downtown have been remodeled more than once, so the plumbing in the walls may not match the plumbing at the fixtures. In the newer Ontario Ranch tracts, many homes are part of HOAs, and we work around community rules on parking, access and work hours.

Ontario also has a lot of rentals, duplexes and small commercial buildings along Holt Boulevard and Mission Boulevard. Property managers and landlords call us for tenant calls, and we keep them in the loop with what we found and what it cost.

Can you tell if roots are in my sewer line?

A sewer camera shows roots, cracks and offset joints clearly. If we find roots, we explain whether cutting them is enough or whether the line needs repair.

Should I use chemical drain cleaner first?

We do not recommend it. Chemical cleaners seldom clear the full blockage, can damage older pipes and seals, and make the work more hazardous once a plumber opens the line.

What should I avoid putting down the drain?

Grease, wipes, paper towels, coffee grounds and large amounts of food scraps cause most of the household clogs we clear.
