If the main line at your Colton home backs up every few months, roots keep coming back after every snaking, or a camera inspection found cracked or separated pipe, the usual answer used to be digging a trench across the yard or through the driveway. Cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining can often fix the same line from the inside, through an existing cleanout, with little or no digging.
Drain Edge Rooter provides camera inspection, cleaning, and trenchless CIPP sewer lining for Colton homes, rentals, and small commercial buildings. We dispatch from our shop at 619 E South St, Rialto, CA 92376, right next door to Colton, and owner Isaiah Infante runs every job under California C-36 plumbing contractor license #1078977.

Why Colton Sewer Laterals Fail
Colton is one of the older cities in the Inland Empire, and many neighborhoods, especially South Colton, the blocks around downtown and Mt. Vernon Avenue, and the streets off La Cadena Drive, have houses built in the first half of the twentieth century and through the post-war years. Sewer laterals from those eras were commonly vitrified clay or cast iron. Clay pipe comes in short sections with joints every few feet, and those joints are where roots from mature trees get in. Cast iron corrodes and scales from the inside, gets rough enough to catch paper and grease, and eventually cracks or loses its bottom.
Newer tracts in north Colton and Cooley Ranch typically have ABS or PVC laterals, which hold up better, but they can still have offset joints, root intrusion at fittings, or sags from settling soil. The point is that the fix depends on what the camera shows, not on the age of the house alone.
How CIPP Lining Works
- Camera inspection: we run a camera through the line to locate cracks, roots, offsets, and sags, and measure the length to be lined.
- Cleaning: roots, scale, and debris are cut out and the pipe is hydro jetted so the liner can bond to clean pipe.
- Liner installation: a flexible liner saturated with resin is pulled or inverted into the old pipe through the cleanout.
- Curing: the resin is cured in place, leaving a seamless, jointless pipe inside the old one.
- Reinstatement and final video: branch connections are reopened if needed and the finished line is recorded on camera so you can see the result.
When Lining Is the Right Call, and When It Is Not
CIPP works well for cracked pipe, root intrusion at joints, and corroded cast iron that still holds its shape. It is not the right fix for a line that has fully collapsed, a pipe with a deep belly holding water, or a section that is badly offset. Those spots may need a spot repair by excavation first, or a different trenchless method such as pipe bursting. We show you the footage and explain which option fits before you commit to anything.
Permits and Responsibility
The lateral from your house to the city sewer main is generally the property owner’s responsibility. Work on the portion in the public right-of-way or any connection at the main can require City of Colton permits. We confirm what is required for your address and handle that paperwork as part of the job.

Signs Your Colton Sewer Line Needs More Than Snaking
A single clog after a holiday dinner is one thing. A pattern is another. Watch for the toilet gurgling when the washing machine drains, water rising in the tub when someone flushes, a sewage smell near the cleanout or in the yard, unusually green or soggy patches of lawn along the path of the lateral, and backups that return within weeks or months of being cleared. Any of those suggest a structural problem such as roots, cracks, or a broken joint, not just a blockage. That is the point where a camera inspection pays for itself, because it tells you whether to keep cleaning, line the pipe, or repair a section, instead of paying for the same cable job again and again. We record the footage and walk you through it so you can make the decision yourself.
Pricing
Lining is priced by length, pipe diameter, the number of connections, and how much cleaning the pipe needs first. We price it after the camera inspection, in writing. In many yards, lining avoids the cost of tearing up and replacing concrete, landscaping, or a driveway, which is often a large part of a traditional dig-and-replace job.
Sewer Lining FAQ
Do I need a camera inspection first?
Yes. Lining without video is guessing. The camera inspection in Colton tells us whether the pipe is a candidate and how long the liner has to be.
Will lining shrink my pipe?
Slightly, because the liner has thickness. In practice the smooth, jointless interior usually flows as well as or better than rough, scaled pipe.
Can I use my plumbing during the job?
Not during cleaning, installation, and curing. We will tell you how long to stop using water for your specific job.
Will roots come back?
A properly installed liner has no joints for roots to enter along the lined section, which is the main reason homeowners choose it.

Note on Orangeburg pipe: Orangeburg pipe (tar-paper sewer pipe common in 1940s–60s homes) can’t be lined. Once it’s found, it has to be dug up and replaced.
Cipp sewer lining in Colton: local notes
We work across Colton, including downtown along La Cadena Drive, South Colton, Reche Canyon and Cooley Ranch. The area has older homes near downtown and the rail lines, mid-century neighborhoods and newer tracts in Reche Canyon.
Lining can save digging on many cast iron and clay lines in Colton, but not every pipe can be lined. Homes built from about the mid-1940s through the 1960s can still have Orangeburg (tar-paper) sewer pipe. Orangeburg cannot be lined or rehabilitated; it has to be dug up and replaced.
